[News] Voting for 2011 Melon Music Awards kicks off

The top thirty list of nominees for the 2011 Melon Music Awards has been revealed.

The award show, which is jointly organised by Loen Entertainment and MBC Plus Media, will hold its first round of online voting from October 27th to November 6th.

This voting system seeks to identify the top ten artists. All nominees considered for the 2011 Melon Music Awards were shortlisted based on streaming statistics (40%), number of downloads (50%) and number of SKT (South Korea Telecom) wireless users (10%) from December 2010 to present.

The top thirty nominees will be whittled down to ten in a process that takes into account album scores (80%) and online votes (20%). Results of the first round of voting will be released on Melon's homepage on November 7th.

The second round of voting will begin immediately after the first one ends, with the eventual winner claiming the top prize at the awards show.

Names like Kim Bumsoo, Park Junghyun and Huh Gak -- all of whom gained immense popularity through reality shows "I Am A Singer" and "Super Star K3" -- were included in the list of nominees.

The other nominees include 10cm, 2NE1, 2PM, 4Men, 4Minute, Girls Day, Davichi, DBSK, Leessang, Mighty Mouse, Baek Jiyoung, B2ST, Big Bang, Secret, Super Junior, Sunny Hill, Sistar, CN BLUE, IU, f(x), Infinite, K.Will, G.NA, GD&TOP, Miss A and Zia.

Anyone who is a member on Melon can cast their vote once a day via the Melon site or mobile web (m.melon.com). Paid membership on Melon gives you three votes each, while paid membership on the wireless NATE music voting event lets you vote up to ten times a day. (Note: Only those with Korean SS Numbers can vote.)

The 2011 Melon Music Awards will take place on November 24th, 7pm KST, at the Gymnastic Stadium in Seoul's Olympic Park.
